Hey, I'm Matt. I built Assets & Chill because I'm into personal finance and enjoy helping people who aren't into personal finance.
The Short Version
I own seven rental units, hit a seven-figure net worth in my 30s, and became financially independent at 40. I got there by treating money like a series of simple decisions, not something to constantly obsess over.
Now I help people do the same thing — build wealth without making it their whole identify.
The Slightly Longer Version
My path was weird but it worked:
- Bachelors in Mathematics (Cal Poly)
- Masters of Public Policy (Cal Poly)
- Law degree (Georgetown)
- California Bar admission
- Pivoted to data science
- Spent my late 20s and early 30s as a digital nomad
Along the way, I tutored in standardized tests, math, stats, and physics. Turns out explaining complex things simply is kind of my thing.
Why Assets & Chill Exists
Here's what I learned: most people don't fail at money because they lack information. They fail because they're overwhelmed by it.
Everyone wants to lecture you about index funds and tax strategies. Nobody wants to just tell you: "Open this account. Put this much in. Done for the month."
So that's what Assets & Chill does. Break personal finance decisions into short, high impact projects. Make the decision, take action, move on with your life.
What I'm About
I'm relentlessly curious — always reading, always learning new things. But I also believe learning should lead to action, not paralysis.
As a money coach, I've watched people transform their financial lives not by becoming finance nerds, but by making a few smart moves and then actually enjoying their life.
That's the goal here. Build assets so you can chill.
